“My practice sits at the intersection of art and medicine, inspired by the understanding that humans are fundamentally biological beings. Drawing from scientific imagery, clinical processes, and embodied experience, my work explores the body not as an abstract ideal but as a living, vulnerable system. Through this lens, I investigate how knowledge, care, and aesthetics shape our relationship to our own biology, inviting viewers to reflect on the fragile and profound materiality of being human.”

ABOUT
Beata Maria Rzepecka is a British visual artist, curator, and researcher based in London. Born in Poland in 1984, she has contributed to the UK’s cultural landscape for nearly two decades through a multidisciplinary practice that bridges art, science, philosophy, and cultural heritage.
Her work explores the relationship between the human body, perception, technology, and memory, often combining artistic experimentation with scientific inquiry. Drawing from visual culture, medical imaging, symbolism, and emerging technologies, her practice investigates the fragile and complex nature of human existence.
In 2011, she completed an MA in Image and Communication at Goldsmiths, University of London, under the mentorship of Nigel Perkins. In 2019, she undertook a two-year study in Project Management sponsored by the University of Oxford.
As the founder of Gabriel Fine Arts, Beata Maria has spent over a decade supporting artists internationally and developing platforms that encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and cultural exchange. Her curatorial and research interests span visual perception, light and colour theory, symbolism, philosophy, and cultural heritage studies.
ARTS & MEDICINE
Beata Maria began exploring the intersection of art and medicine during her studies at Goldsmiths in 2010. Early collaborative works, including Catharsis, created with Manabu Shimada, integrated animation, sonic art, biomedical science, and immersive installation practices.
Since 2012, she has collaborated with computer scientist Fabrizio Smeraldi on projects investigating the healing potential of art and raising awareness around health and wellbeing. Their interdisciplinary installations merge artistic expression with medical science, AI, and interactive technologies, creating environments that invite audiences to reflect on the relationship between the body, technology, and human experience.
Their work has been presented at exhibitions and science festivals across London, including collaborations with Queen Mary University of London and charitable initiatives with Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity. One of their installations was reviewed by The Pharmaceutical Journal, published by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
In 2024, the collaborative work Lucid Dreams was presented as part of Personal Structures, organised by ECC Italy at Palazzo Bembo during La Biennale di Venezia. The project also featured contributions from artist, curator, and writer Melissa Budasz (Masked Sphinx), whose paintings from the series Arousal of the Kundalini were incorporated into the immersive animated installation.
Beata Maria is currently developing the Bones series, an ongoing body of work exploring osteoporosis, fragility, time, and the architecture of the human body through medical imaging, AI, video, animation, and holographic technologies. The series reflects her continued investigation into the relationship between artistic practice, biological systems, and medical science. In 2026, works from the Bones series were exhibited twice in collaboration with Hilton, further expanding the project’s public engagement and interdisciplinary reach.
She serves as an Advocate for Global Tech Advocates (GTA) and Tech London Advocates (TLA).
